If you are looking for experiences you won't find anywhere else; a unique and challenging setting; and opportunities well outside of the norm, the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets are for you. For more information, please follow this link. Have a look at the corps' photo albums to see some of what we get up to!
To join the corps, please come to the upstairs hall at the Sooke Legion any Wednesday night between 6 and 9 pm.
All applicants must: be 12 to 18 years old (you must leave the day before your 19th birthday), be a Canadian citizen or hold landed immigrant status; not belong to another cadet unit (if you do, you may transfer); be of good character; and be approved by the Commanding Officer.
You can bring the forms listed below already filled in, along with your birth certificate and care card for photocopying, or you can pick up paper copies of the forms - if your parent or guardian is willing, they can fill the forms out at the Legion.
The Sooke Branch of the Navy League of Canada, our civilian sponsoring body, asks parents for a volunteer bond for each family, and an annual registration fee for each cadet: please see the branch registration form for more information. No cadet will be turned away due to an inability to pay.
Please have a look at our Joining Instructions, a reference document for the corps and the cadet program - you will also be given a hard copy on joining. Finally, you will be issued with a uniform (or one will be ordered, depending on what sizes are in stock) within two or three weeks of registration.
